The Growing Popularity of Electric Vehicles: What's Driving the Demand?

An electric vehicle (EV) is a type of vehicle that utilizes an electric motor to draw power from a battery and can be recharged from an external source.

What are Electric Vehicles

* Battery Electric Vehicles * Hybrid Electric Vehicles *Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle * Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle

Types of Electric Vehicles

Petrol and diesel vehicles are environmentally harmful and are being rapidly supplanted by fully electric vehicles. EVs produce no emissions from their tailpipes and are significantly more eco-friendly.

Why EV's are more popular these days ?

In 1996, the first electric vehicle was a three-wheeler, invented by Scooter's India Pvt Ltd, and it was named VIKRAM SAFA.

Who invented first EV in India?

1. Cleaner Environment  EV's don’t emit exhaust gases, which reduces local air pollution particularly in congested cities.  2. Lower running costs On average electric cars cost less than a petrol car.

Benefits of Electric Vehicles

3. Better driving EVs have more responsive acceleration and regenerative braking when easing off the accelerator.  4. Less noise EVs are much quieter than petrol and diesel vehicles.

5. Better resale value Second-hand electric cars could be a great affordable option if you're looking to make the switch from petrol.  6. Free Parking You can often find free, priority or dedicated parking bays for electric cars, positioned with convenient access in mind.

7. Tax Exemption Two and four-wheeler EVs are exempted from paying road tax. Under Section 80EEB, electric vehicle buyers are entitled to tax exemption up to Rs 1.5 lakh on the loan amount.  8. Subsidies To increase the awareness of electric vehicles, the government has taken  an initiative of offering subsidies. However, these policies are available in a few states of India.

EV's are not only a boon for environment but leads to less health problems caused by air pollution.  Only disadvantage is that easy to maintain EV's though are steadily growing but charging infrastructure that supports them still needs a lot of work.
